Playing the Numbers

GUESTS

It is simple - The number of guests is equal to what you can afford.  Just like the size of your purse- you put as much in it as it will hold- if you get a bigger purse, you put more stuff in it, right? First decide whether you are going to have a small intimate affair or a huge church wedding - again size will matter. You don’t want to book a huge venue for a service of 20.  And on the same token, you don’t want t small chapel with a guest list of 300. Second, list family members- both sides- all of them and their friends. When you are both finished generating this list, you start the weeding out process. Inviting everyone you’ve ever known could get quite expensive, but it is better to make an enormous list to start with, and then delete names, rather than overlooking people that should be on the guest list.

BRIDAL PARTY

Whether you have 2 bridesmaids and groomsmen or 12 bridesmaids and 12 groomsmen- each one of them should be someone very special in your life.  In theory, the people who stand up for you at your wedding should be there for both of you through the good and bad years ahead. Not to say that you’re going to call them everytime you two have a disagreement by any means.  Just saying that out of all the people you know, these guys and girls are some of your favorite people.  There is no spoken rule regarding the number of bridesmaids and groomsmen being equal. As with most aspects of your wedding- these days there really are no rules or standards.  Simply do what makes you the happiest.
