Choosing a Consultant

There are hundreds of decisions you will need to make when planning your wedding and each one will have an effect on the total wedding experience.  Frequently brides will use their mothers, sisters and their friends who have been there to help pull it together.  It is important to remember that even a small wedding can be complicated and most brides who do it themselves find that wedding planning is a full time job.  If you already have a full time job, if you are unsure about what you want, if you want your wedding day to be a fairy tale without you worrying about the details, or perhaps you want a professional who can be your friend to guide you through the process then maybe you should consider hiring a wedding consultant.

A wedding consultant is a professional who plans weddings everyday. Frequently a bride will say that she can’t afford a wedding consultant when really she may not be able to afford not having a wedding consultant. A wedding consultant provides several services that can save the bride money, time, stress and aggravation. Your consultant can frequently save you enough money to more than pay for their services. And remember you can use a consultant as much or as little as you need them.

Once you have selected a wedding consultant, you will meet with them so they can interview you and the groom to get a full understanding of your dreams, your vision, your requirements, and most importantly your financial budget for the event. Using this information they will then provide you with alternatives that will meet your needs. They are a translator of your dreams into reality.  They will also go with you to the vendors to help you.

A consultant can be very helpful in handling all those etiquette questions that are peculiar to a wedding. After all, you are joining two families together that may not be as much in love with each other as you are.  It is nice to know that it is done right and in good taste.

Bridal consultants will have relationships with most of the wedding vendors in the city. They will know who offers what and what a fair price for the service is. You will only purchase wedding services once in your lifetime whereas a consultant purchases everyday and therefore has bargaining clout with the vendors. This is where they pay for themselves.  In addition, a vendor is not going to fail to deliver for a wedding consultant because they know they will lose more than a single wedding.

Each vendor will sign a contract with you to provide their services. These contracts should contain every detail necessary to insure that you get exactly what you pay for and exactly when you need it.  Wedding consultants are familiar with these contracts and can insure that each one has the terms required for that particular service.

After the planning is completed, they will continue to monitor the vendors to confirm that everything is on track.  Then on your wedding day, they will be the one responsible for checking the deliveries as they arrive, directing the setup people from the vendors and handling the emergencies as they arise.

If you are planning a destination wedding then a wedding consultant who works at the destination is a must. There is no way you can handle a wedding remotely.

If you want your wedding day to be your fairy tale wedding, a stress free day, the vision you have always dreamed of, and a success for you and all of your guests then you should seriously consider hiring a professional to help you.
