Getting The Best From Your Wedding Photographer and Videographer

Brides frequently complain that they were so busy on their wedding day that it all just became one big blur. Having tremendous wedding albums and movies are what will let you bring back every moment of your wedding day in fantastic detail. So where do you start creating your new family history?

First you need to decide whether you would like a traditional or a storybook wedding album or perhaps a little of both. You know the traditional - a set of posed photos detailing all the major moments and participants. A storybook wedding album is shot from an artist’s perspective creating a series of images that tell a romantic story. The storybook photo album does require a special skill to make the story flow gracefully to create a complete picture of your wedding day.

When choosing a photographer it is important to remember that your wedding day can not be reshot so it has to be right the first time.  A professional photographer, a photographer who only does photography for a living, brings a greater depth of experience to both the quality of your photos and the assurance that they will be right. Their experience allows them to be virtually invisible to you and yet to get the total story of your wedding day.

During the selection process, you should ask to see complete wedding albums of other weddings they have done, not just the best shots form several weddings.  As always, you should check references and review the contract very carefully. You should make sure you get the complete cost of the wedding day and for copies.

The traditional weddings shots consists of the bride dressing, bridesmaids, bride with her parents, bride with maid of honor, groom with parents, groom and best man, groomsmen, siblings, grandparents, flower girl/ring bearer, exchanging I do’s, first kiss, walking down aisle married, rings on fingers, bridal party, guests, food, cake cutting and eating, arm-in-arm toasts, bride tossing bouquet, groom tossing garter, the entertainment, first dance, bride dancing with father, groom dancing with mother, wedding party dancing, and the couple leaving the wedding party.

Video and DVD technology is so advanced today that is now possible to create a movie of your wedding day that rivals Hollywood. A good Videographer will capture the electricity in the atmosphere as the wedding party comes up the aisle before you make your grand entrance, something you don’t get to see.  However if you want your video to look great, it will take a professional. Unlike Hollywood, this has to be shot all at once.

A great Videographer will edit your wedding story, add music where appropriate and in general create a seamless finished product on video or DVD for you and your family to enjoy forever.
