Creating storybook
wedding albums has become an art form and is the only way to go for
most of today’s educated and classy brides. The
bride expects more than just posed wedding photographs that are stiff and
tell no story of their day. When
it’s just right she wants black and white, but the color photos too
that show how she designed and planned her wedding day or night.
Today’s
educated bride expects more because she is well versed in the arts and
she knows the completed version of the wedding album is a direct reflection
of her personally not to mention her complex tastes. So
how does she find a storybook wedding photographer?… Unfortunately
anyone can find a “chin up, nice smile” photographer, herein
to be referred to as “Mr. Pose”. “Mr.
Pose” kills the moment with his get your attention interruptions. He
stops the action when he says, “look this way y’all, now smile
and look pretty!” This
approach is not the way to find the essence of your wedding and is definitely
not the story of your day.
By
contrast, a storybook wedding photographer is sort of a “half artist-half
spy.” He disappears,
not to make a spectacle of himself and hunts for those moments that will
turn into memories. He waits,
armed with the knowledge of the arts and photojournalism, capturing the
essence of your wedding day by observing and interpreting every scene. Remember,
posed shots are the easiest to get and should only hold you up 15 to 20
minutes max, depending on the shots you require. So,
beware of those we call “Mr.Pose” keeping you on your toes,
posing and posing your day away cause that’s all he knows.
The end product is
a wedding album that looks stiff and contrived. You’ll
have nothing special from “Mr. Pose”. Artists
call this method “cookie cutter photography”. What
you should expect from a storybook wedding photographer is a unique, unpredictable
artist’s touch very much like a painter who tells the story brush after
brush.
